We need people from all backgrounds and experiences who reflect their community to put themselves forward for Co-option. Make a change and become a councillor. The Role of a Parish Councillor is a voluntary role and is basically to serve your community as best you can and help the Council make decisions on behalf of the community working together as a body. Decisions can only be made at a Parish Council meeting by a majority vote and no individual councillor can make a decision on behalf of the Parish Council.
Meetings are held on the penultimate Wednesday of each month, (no meeting in August or December) at Thorngumbald Village Hall. If co-opted, you will be obliged to complete and sign a Declaration of Acceptance of Office and a Register of Interest. Thorngumbald Parish Council are also Trustees of Ryehill Village Institute, if co-opted as a Councillor you automatically become a Trustee. These meetings are usually held on the same night as a Parish Council meeting.
Anyone wishing to become a member of the council should show their interest in writing to the Clerk, Thorngumbald Parish Council, Thorngumbald Village Hall, Main Road, Thorngumbald, HU12 9NG or via email clerk@thorngumbald-pc.org.uk giving details of why you would like to become a member, by no later than Friday 19 January 2024.
